Glycolic acid is an extremely effective exfoliant and it is used in skincare for it’s amazing skin renewal benefits!

Glycolic acid belongs to a group of acids called alpha hydroxy acids. Alpha hydroxy acids are plant & animal-derived acids and they work by loosening the glue-like substance that binds dead skin cells together.

Glycolic acid is derived from milk or fruit sugars and because of its small molecule size, it has the ability to penetrate deeply into the layers of the skin and exfoliate damaged skin away, which reveals new, undamaged skin cells.

Glycolic acid is used to treat: acne, hyperpigmentation, rough texture, fine lines, wrinkles and it evens skin tone from sun damage.

How can you incorporate glycolic acid into your daily regimen?
My favorites are high quality serums. Serums are packed with potent, effective ingredients and the best way, in my opinion, to incorporate any acid into your regimen.

Skin tips:
– Glycolic acid tends to be very drying to the skin. Introducing it very slowly into your regimen by limiting use to two times per week will help minimize dryness. Continued use will minimize dryness and adding a thicker moisturizer would also be beneficial to help keep the skin properly hydrated.
– It’s also imperative to wear sunscreen daily when incorporating glycolic acid into your regimen.
